Welcome to the Zia Research Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. We are affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology-Oncology, and the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center at UTSW and Children's Health.
Zia Research Program, led by Dr. Ayesha Zia, MD, MSCS, is an interdisciplinary research program comprising of clinicians, epidemiologists, imaging scientists, exercise physiologists, and coagulationists.
Our vision is to integrate translational science and clinical medicine to conduct clinically directed research to study, diagnose and treat disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis. Our goals are to conduct high-impact research that improves the lives of children with blood disorders and to train the next generation of independent clinical investigators in an inclusive environment.

The Functional Characterization of Children with Chronic Venous Thromboembolic Disease (FUVID) is a multi-center, prospective study evaluating exercise intolerance and dyspnea on exertion in patients following first-episode deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
